Today I got a chance to spend my sunday in a very traditional way of Lahoris.....no its not eating out but its visiting Shahi Qilla and Badshahi Mosque. Shahi Qilla survived so many battles and attacks, time was also cruel to its grandeur and architechure but human element or Pakistani element has played enough part to demolish whatever is left of its ruins. I couldnt resist comparing it with Topkapi palace (Turkey) though there is no comparison between two as ours had gone through worse but the general public treatment is so shameful.
Badshahi mosque is spared by Paki crowd due to religious reasons, so there are no mobile numbers written or statment of eternal love for someone printed. Its beautiful and worth visiting especially the lighting effect at night is simply wonderful.
Last but not least Cuckoo's cafe!! Its a beautiful havaili turned into an open air cafe. There is such a breathtaking view of Badshahi mosque from the terrace of it not to mention the hindu art in the havelli. Thank God, it was saved by some realigious zealot and it was amazing to walk around in that 17th century haveli which was quite an experience.
